Rehabilitation Services

During the development intervention over the past 15 years, the Caussanel Educational Social Developmental Society had come across hundreds of migrants, specially commercial sex workers as well as People Living with HIV/AIDS (PLHA).  Through an informal survey 682 commercial sex workers and 532 people living with HIV/AIDS have been listed in the present target area.  The infected children are the most vulnerable physically and intellectually.  The same way there are cases reported on Mental and Physical disability.  They need technically equipped center for providing technical training that will provide opportunity for ensuring their livelihood when they are grown up.

So we have a Home for the poor HIV affected patients which is named after “SNEHA JOTHI CARE AND SUPPORT CENTRE”..The following activities are being carried out in this Sneha Jothi Care and Support Centre.

  • Clinical tests are being conducted in the Home
  • In-patients care and support to the victims of HIV positive Infected
  • Aids patients are referred  to Government Hospital for periodic review
  • Medicines are given to the in-patients
  • Nutritious foods are being provided
  • Counseling for prevention and safety and extending support services to the PLHA(People Living With HIV/AIDS).
  • Yoga training is given to the PLHA.

i) Align with other NGOs in support service to PLHA.

Recently we have started a Home for the children affected with HIV named ‘THOZHAMAI ILLAM.  Here we arranging all the facilities for staying 100 children. Now there are 50 children are staying here. Among them, 23 children are living infected with HIV.  We take special care by providing Nutrition, proper medicine, education, and developing their skill with various programs.

Since the Government assistance is not forthcoming, we solicit support from magnanimous donors for carrying out this project successfully

Special Interventions

  • Imparting knowledge to identify various household things and the activities concerned with personal hygiene.
  • Giving training in identifying and picking things – balls, vessels in the articulate system
  • Getting introduced to hygienic activities – brushing, bathing, using the toilet, etc.  Developing skills in dancing and singing.
  • Giving regular physical exercises make them fit and warm to gain strength and good  physic.
  • Orientation programmes and regular classes were arranged for the mentally retarded children to help them carry out their activities themselves.
  • The articulate system of regular consciousness of the happenings is formalized here to these children to carry out their duties themselves without external support.

Special Interventions

Activities Carried out

  • Giving individual attention on action oriented education.  Teaching and learning Deaf and Dump language is needed to be given.
  • Making them associated with the normal children and imparting the basic knowledge on knowing the daily chores and the things happen around them everyday.
  • Helping them read and count the number system etc. Periodical visit to doctor for the physic and mental check up.
  • The special courses for the deaf and dumb children were carried out partially to the help the affected children get the basic knowledge of general things and everyday life.  Regularly forty plus children are getting benefited here with these interventions.
  • Regular classes and coaching encourage these children to study and develop study habits. Helping them learn other national languages through private coaching is recommended
  • Regular tuition and coaching classes were arranged for these children so that they may excel in their studies.
  • Regular interventions to the PLHIV(Person living with HIV)
  • 115 are benefited here from this center as in regular.  Four of the cases were sent to Government Hospitals for their special intensive treatment
  • Regular interventions for ART (Anti Ratio Viral treatment)
  • Ten patients are identified for this treatment.
  • Other services
  • Our follow up services are getting continued with 54 patients in regular with proper medicinal treatment
  • Through referral mode of services, 136 patients are in our identification and they get needed follow-ups and treatment in regular intervals.
  • Sacred Heart Home for Children
  • It accommodates with 300 children which includes orphans and semi orphans.
    The children are purely  supported with free education and supplied with Shelter, Nutritious food, Clothing, Uniform and medical care at the cost of nil.
  • Lawrence Home for Aged
  • The Home has accommodated 12 aged people who are abandoned by their families.
    Special care is taken for their healthy life..
    All basic needs- shelter, nutritious food, clothing and medical care are provided freely.
  • ThozhamaiIllam
  • 50 children are admitted here, out of them 23 are affected with HIV and they are supported with Education, Shelter, Nutritious food, Clothing, Uniform and regular medicinal care  by our society
