As said earlier brothers are much concerned with the children. Poor, orphan, semi orphan and destitute are picked from the slums and streets. Preference is given to rural and disabled children. These children are admitted to our homes run by the Society. These homes are attached to the educational institution for feasibility and easy access. Food, shelter, clothing and educational materials are supplied freely. This helps the poor parents send their wards to school for education that was beyond their reach some years ago. In the current year 1,600 children of this kind were admitted in these homes and were educated.
Some of the Junior Colleges (Higher Secondary Schools) are attached with a Hostel. A nominal fee is collected for food, shelter and amenities while education is catered freely. The boys admitted in the Hostels were much benefited because of the residential educational system arranged by the Society. Parents appreciated this service since it was more convenient for those who found it difficult to educate their wards under their direct supervision. Rural dalit and Tribal children were considered and preference was given in admission to them.
in the current year 10 sick and aged people were provided with food, shelter. Clothing and medical care in the Home for Aged run by the brothers. This brought in solace and comfort in the life of the aged. Almost all the aged were left uncared or neglected by their children or relatives.
Very small children that attended the Pre KG classes were taken care of in the Creche units run by the Society in various places. 200 children were admitted this year. No fee or service charge was collected and we carried out the entire program freely. The program enabled us to give employment to some unemployed girls who remained as baby-sitters for the year and the congregation met all the expenses incurred in connection with this.
